At the turn of the century, the life expectancy at birth in the United States was just a few years under 50. Better control of infectious diseases and improvements in healthcare and nutrition have progressively increased the average life span to about 78.7 years. So for this Thursday Take-off, imagine we never took those strides towards better nutrition and medicine. Imagine the life expectancy of the average person was not 78 years but 40 years. Would you have kids? Would you want to be married? Would you go to college? Would you live life to the fullest? Or would you want to spend more of your time with the people you love? How would you live your life differently?
