Do you want to get into the habit of writing without the pressure of grades and deadlines? Summer is a great time to practice writing consistently and creatively because you have more time and less pressure than you do during the academic year. Starting a blog is a fun and creative way to incorporate writing into your daily life. Think of something fun, unique, interesting, or personal to you, and start a blog centered around that theme. It could be something simple and fun like fashion, for instance, and you can create a blog that documents your everyday outfits and write about what inspired your look. Or, you can write musings about life, love, death, (or even taxes), and more  from your own unique perspective.

Explore blog websites such as WordPress or Tumblr, personalize it, and write an entry as often as you’d like. This will get you into the habit of writing a little bit everyday, so that when it comes time to write a 5 page paper in the Fall, the task would not be so daunting (and unfamiliar).

Start a blog today, and be a better writer tomorrow! Remember–Be creative, be consistent, and be inspirational!
